Businesses have changed and will continue to change, moving forward towards more people-centric business practices. Business Resource Groups (BRGs), Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), and Affinity Groups fill an important role in these more people-focused business practices. Often collectively referred to as ERGs, these various groups may have different names, but all are internal, voluntary, employee-led groups who join together based on common interests and demographic backgrounds, such as physical capability, parental status, military service, age, gender, sexuality, race or ethnicity. Companies have recognized the need and value of ERGs because of the business insight they bring regarding employee engagement and better understanding of their customer base.
From its inception in the early 1980’s, NAAAP’s mission has been to inspire, cultivate, and empower API leaders for professional excellence to make a meaningful impact in their workplaces and the community. Through the years, NAAAP has created more opportunities to connect and engage ERG leaders across companies, NAAAP chapters, business industries, and demographics to share ideas and practices while learning how to spread diversity and inclusion.
NAAAP kicks off the second Friday of the Leadership Convention with an ERG Corporate Summit on August 13th from 12 p.m.- 4 p.m. EDT/9 a.m. – 1 p.m. PDT with keynote speaker Chantale Wong, Career Public Servant & Founder of CAPAL.
